Our Riptide American Pale Ale Home Brewing kit makes 5 gallons of refreshing, hoppy beer with enough of a malt backbone to make it smooth and easy-drinking. Deep gold to light amber in color, 7.7 SRM, and brewed with three kinds of hops, it has a medium dry finish provided by its American ale yeast. A medium bitterness of 25.6 IBU and ABV of 5.0% makes Riptide an everyday drinker, which means you may want to start another batch of this homebrew as soon as the first is ready to drink.   • This kit contains all the ingredients you'll need to make five gallons of beer. You will be following a two stage fermentation system using a plastic bucket as a primary fermentor to contain the beer until heavy foaming ceases. The beer is then siphoned into a secondary fermentor, a five gallon carboy where the beer stays until fermentation is complete.

    Be sure you have all the equipment below before getting started. We carry everything you'll need to get brewing.

    How to Use

    Equipment Needed:

    • Boiling kettle 4 gallons or larger, made of stainless steel or enameled steel.
    • A stirring spoon.
    • Plastic bucket (primary fermentor) of at least 6 gallon capacity and a lid.
    • A 5 gallon bottle (secondary fermentor).
    • Fermentation lock and stopper.
    • Siphon assembly and bottle filler.
    • 55 twelve oz. Beer bottles, or an equivalent amount of larger cappable bottles.
    • Bristle bottle brush, Cleaner, such as TDC, and Sanitizer, such as BTF Iodophor Sanitizer.
    • Sieve strainer and a saucepan.

  • 0.5 lb. Belgian Caravienne Malt
  • 0.25 lb. Belgian Aromatic Malt
  • 0.25 lb. German Melanoidin Malt
  • 2.2 g Calcium Chloride
  • 4.4 g Chalk
  • 4.4 g Beer Yeast Nutrient
  • .75 oz. Perle Hops (5.3%) (15.9 IBU) (60 Minutes)
  • .5 oz. Northern Brewer Hops (7.0%) (4.9 IBU) (30 Minutes)
  • 1 oz. Cascade Hops (6.8%) (4.8 IBU) (5 Minutes)
  • 6 oz. Corn Sugar for priming
  • 1 Pack Safale US-05 American Ale Yeast
