Beer Recipe - All Together Real Beer - Octoberfest
A 5 gallon partial mash extract beer recipe for an Octoberfest Festbier. The base of Amber Dry Malt extract provides a moderate level of richness and the genuine German lager yeasts give the complexity you want in a German-style homebrew.
5 lbs. “The Beverage People” Amber Dried Malt Extract
8 oz. Wheat Malt
8 oz. Light Crystal Malt (Caramel 20)
8 oz. Victory Malt
2/3 tsp. Gypsum
1/3 tsp. Calcium Chloride
½ tsp. Chalk
¾ oz. Liberty Hop Pellets (60 min) 11.70 IBU
½ oz. Centennial Hop Pellets (30 min) 13.20 IBU
½ oz. Liberty Hop Pellets (5 min) 1.34 IBU
Water to five gallons
¾ cup Corn Sugar for priming
1 pack #2206, WLP#830, or #2308 Lager Yeast
Steep all grains for 45 minutes at 158 F. One hour boil.
