Bairds Carastan Malt - 30°- 40° Lovibond - is processed wet, followed by an extensive period of high-degree roasting, the result is an uniquely English malt. Carastan lends a burnished copper color and is bursting with the flavors and aromas of bittersweet English toffee, sourdough bread crust, and toasted hazelnuts. Can be used in lower proportions to add complexity to a recipe or in higher amounts to highlight that special British character.

How to Use

Recommended Percentage of Grist by Style:

  • 1-3% For malt balance and complexity in American Pale Ale or IPA
  • 5-10% California Common Beer, Vienna, Marzen and Oktoberfest
  • 5-15% English Bitter and ESB, Dark Lagers and Barley Wine
  • 5-15% Certain styles of Brown Ales, Scotch Ales, Stouts and Porters

How to Return Goods for Refund

All our supplies are guaranteed for one year. Request for refunds occurring more than 30 days after the date of purchase on non-defective goods may be granted as a store credit if the goods are returned in their original condition. Yeast is perishable and should be refrigerated on arrival. No refunds are allowed on sales of living organisms such as yeast and bacteria.
