Get ready for plenty of interaction with ripe apples! In this class, Bob will lead you through the theory of making hard cider, then turn you loose to help crush 200 lbs. of apples with The Beverage People rental apple mill. We will bottle the fresh juice from the first 100 lbs. and send a liter home with each student, then proceed step-by-step toward starting the other 5 gallons or so on its way to becoming delicious hard cider. Processes, materials, sanitation, and basic lab testing will be covered. Samples from a previous batch will be offered to students over 21.
