We carry Thomas Fawcett and Sons malted oats for their nutty oat flavor and the creamy mouthfeel they contribute to beer. Oat malt is difficult to produce and therefore only made by a few maltsters. Oat husks are similar to rice hulls and an addition of oat malt to your recipe can aid in increasing sparge efficiency. While oat grains themselves are gluten free, oat malts are produced in facilities that process barley and wheat malts so should not be used in strictly gluten free beers.
